Putting – putting tips

Putting is a golf skill that needs to be mastered if you ever want to enjoy golf in the 70s. Becoming a better golfer starts with improving your putting so you can enjoy a lower golf score. I once was watching Tiger Woods on the putting green practicing a one arm drill, and he looked good. When he started his play, his first tee shot was a smash but then it came time to putt. He three putted and right there I knew it would be a long day for Tiger. In fact without the proper mindset and golf swing mechanics you will have a sad day putting. So let’s learn some putting tips.

Putting – putting drills

Putting, to a lot of weekend golfers is taking for granted over and over and is what causes frustration over the golf round. On the practice putting green find an area where the lawn and the fringe meet. Making sure the fringe is straight, go ahead and drop some golf balls on the putting green. Keeping the tip of the putters clubhead moving parallel with the fringe (use the fringe as a guide), hit the golf balls to see if you’re accurate by making sure your putter is flush with the fringe. Your head must remain still and your shoulders and the putter should move as one. The putter face has to remain to the golf ball during the back swing so the golf ball will go where you want it to when you’re putting.

Stay focused and develop a mental golf game at the practice putting green before you play your golf round. As I had suggested in the previous golf shooting in the 70′s articles get three or four dimes, and put them out right there on the putting green. Next putt some golf balls to the dimes getting as close as you can. This will help you to start correctly lagging your long putts and draining the short ones. Golf pros read the whole layout of the greens and you should take the time to do the same if you want to get better at putting. The difference between putting out with a two versus a three can be a huge swing in a golf score, so practice your putting drills and putting tips.
